WHO IS THIS YEAR'S LEGEND?

In 2019, our Legend will be Troy Cassar-Daley.  To find out more about Troy head to www.troycassardaley.com.au

WHERE DOES 'LEGEND & THE LOCALS' GO?

In 2019, we'll be traveling to Yeppoon, Gladstone, Hughenden, Moranbah, Mount Morgan, Gympie, Monto, Blackall & Capella.  Check out the dates on the tab above.

WHO CAN GET INVOLVED?

Everyone in Regional Queensland!  In terms of presenting organisations, any group that is interested can present this show, from Arts Councils, to Lions groups, to Show Societies.  And in terms of local performers, if you live in Queensland, we'd love to hear from you!

HOW IS THE TOUR FUNDED?

I'm glad you asked!  The funding model is another unique characteristic of  LEGEND & THE LOCALS.  So here's how it works...

The money to put this show on, comes from funding bodies, sponsors and local presenting organisations (for example Arts Councils).  Funding is secured to cover a large part of the costs, and this means that each local presenting organisation only needs to pay a small fee to host the show.  They can then sell tickets, food & drinks etc and retain ALL profits.

The 2019 tour featuring Troy Cassar-Daley is presented by Keppel Coast Arts, and has received funding from the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland, and from the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal, with thanks to the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation.  We are also supported by our wonderful sponsors, Southern Cross Austereo, Stage & Audio, and Hey There Happiness.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF PRESENTING ORGANISATIONS?

As well as paying the small fee to host the show, presenting organisations need to supply volunteers to sell tickets and run the bar etc, and they need to organise the venue.  This can be indoors or outdoors, all that is required is a solid stage, and 3phase power.

WHAT IS PROVIDED BY LEGEND & THE LOCALS?

LEGEND & THE LOCALS brings with it a complete professional sound & lighting show, including professional sound engineers.  Marketing is also covered by the show and includes extensive advertising leading up to the tour.

HOW ARE WE WORKING WITH LOCAL TALENT?

LEGEND & THE LOCALS aims to uncover and promote as much local talent as possible.  Here's how it's done...

We connect with school / town choirs in every town, delivering sheet music and mp3s for 2 songs to be part of the show.  We support the rehearsal process through Skype support sessions, and finally work-shop the pieces together with our legend to ensure every participant feels confident to join the show.  This will no doubt be a major highlight of the tour.

LEGEND & THE LOCALS duet. This feature has been a huge success since we first trialled it in 2014 with Wendy Matthews,  and will continue to be a part of the show into the future.  The duet song is first chosen, and then locals are invited to apply to perform.  The ‘Legend’ chooses the lucky winner, who will then be supplied with the necessary song, lyrics and music, supported through the rehearsal phase prior to the show, and then given one-on-one time with the ‘Legend’ and band to rehearse.

Local bands will be given the opportunity to apply to perform their own material or cover songs, in the role of first support act for the evening.  And at any point during the workshop and rehearsal process, the participants are invited to ask as many questions of the ‘Legend’ as they like, relating to the music industry and music in general.
